Hey Scouters!

Congratulations on a successful Scout Fair Fundraiser and Booth Participation.  Thank you All for pulling together and helping out in all areas including reaching to meet your sales goals, making posters/banners/etc..for the booth, helping set up the booth and/or tearing down and so much more!  You all worked as a team to make this a great event!  Each and every one of you makes a difference, both youth and adults,..thank you for all of  your contributions!

Be sure to attend your meetings and stay in touch.  Remember, the most effective method of staying up to date on news and events is by going to your meetings.  The blog and e-mails only do so much.

Be prepared for meetings!  Always be in uniform, take your handbook, have your calendar on hand and be ready for anything because anything and everything always happens.  Oh...and be on time!

April has been great so far.  Can't wait for May!

Think and consider the power of God.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

WORLD RECORD OPPORTUNITY FOR SCOUTS!

SHAC Jam Rocket Launch is your chance to participate in a Scouting World Record.

Launching at SHAC Jam on Saturday, October 9, 2010.

Scouts can help build at least 2,010 model rockets to be launched simultaneously in an attempt to break the Guiness World Record.

Each kit must be purchased through SHAC in order to participate in the launch. Our unit will order them in one group order at the beginning of June. Be sure to buy yours from the unit Coordinator (below) by the end of May! Each kit will cost between $10-12 and will be mailed to us in the summer. For more information, go to rocketry@shac.org.

APRIL HIGHLIGHTS

Review of activities for the month of APRIL:

* Three regular troop meetings took place. No meeting was held on Good Friday.

* The Boy Scouts prepared signs, banners, posters, etc...for presentation at the 2010 Scout Fair held at Reliant Arena on Saturday, April 24. They joined thousands of scouts gathered to celebrate Scouting, offer demonstrations on camp cooking, games, building, derbies, flag ceremonies, etc... Troop 512 was proud to work on the first ever "Recyling and Living Green" booth at Scout Fair. Raymond N. and his family worked behind the scenes to secure representation of recycling companies including a huge recycling truck for promotion of the subject at the booth.

* Scout Fair Fundraiser came to an end. It was very successful as most scouts were able to meet their minimum goals and several scouts surpassed their initial goals. A huge Thank You goes to Mr. G. Carr for pitching in and selling coupon packs on behalf of the troop to his family, friends and work associates. His efforts doubled the results of the fundraiser. Thank you! Mr. Carr is always our troop guardian angel and we are so lucky to have such a fine role-model.

* Many of our Scouts participated in the Golden Arrow Merit Badge Fair on April 17. This is not a typical "fair". These are day-long classes that Scouts pay to attend in order to learn about many complex and educational subjects including the following:
~~ Signaler (Various forms of non-verbal communication codes.)
~~ Pathfinder (How to find your way in different situations.)

* Throughout the month, plans were initiated to follow-through on future events including:
~~ May camping trip to Lake Somerville, TX State Park
~~ June Twilight Camp (merit badge classes)
~~ Leadership Planning Meeting
~~ More is still on the agenda, including church service projects

EAGLE HONOR - FRANK LEGALLY
